Yelping and whining like a newborn,
The domestic house pet longs for its owner.
Scratching and clawing for attention,
The domestic house pet begs to be held.
A baby, curious with no instinct but to learn.
A puppy, inherently ignorant but curious.
His eyes shine with the hint to a question.
What is this world?
In my subconscious I ponder on this,
My judgement may be too fuzzy;
nevertheless, I once experienced their passive nature.

I have been in their shoes;
on the other hand, I feel stripped.
stripped of my old naive ways,
I no longer cower to the burst of lightning.
I cower at numbers that determine my way of life.
A god, a beacon, an idol.
Arms outstretched, gesturing for wants and needs,
looking in the eye of the one who instills fear and love.
Looking up with the intent of receiving love before giving.
Looking back, in a puzzled way, asks "who's a good boy?"
Rewarded for their memorization,
rewarded for their loyalty,
rewarded with open arms.
